Trim-to-tune instructions – how to perfectly tune your KW2 antenna

The Firestik KW2 uses a 'trim-to-tune' system. This means you customize the antenna yourself for perfect SWR tuning. Follow these simple steps:

1. Remove the protective cap from the top of the antenna.
2. Carefully cut two vertical slits (1–1.5 cm) into the outer sleeve at the top of the antenna with a sharp knife.
3. Fold open the sleeve to expose the wire coil.
4. Cut a small piece of the copper wire from the end (start with a few millimeters).
5. Push the wire back into the sleeve and fold the coating closed again.
6. Replace the cap on top of the antenna.
7. Measure your SWR value and, if necessary, repeat the trimming step for an even better result.

Tip: Always start with a minimal trim and work incrementally – too much trimming cannot be undone.
