Icom IC-705

The latest portable QRP transceiver from Icom is the IC-705. This multimode portable transceiver with HF/50/144/430 MHz amateur bands on board and delivers 5 Watts on the supplied battery and 10 Watts on an external 12 Volt power supply.



The RF Direct Sampling System (SDR) receiver is continuous (general coverage) and is all mode (FM, AM, CW, SSB). The IC-705 has a large touch screen color display just like the IC-9700 and the IC-7400.

HF/50/144/430 MHz Multimode

From HF to 50/144/430 MHz, you can enjoy a variety of bands in D-STAR DV, SSB, CW, RTTY, AM and FM modes. The Icom IC-705 receives continuously from 30 kHz via the 144 MHz band. You can also enjoy FM broadcasts and airband reception.

RF Direct Sampling System

The Icom IC-705 uses a direct RF sampling system, which converts RF signals directly into digital data. Then processed in the FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array), making it possible to simplify circuit construction and reduce internal noise that can mask weak signals.

Real-Time Spectrum Scope and Waterfall Display

The performance of the Icom IC-7300 and IC-9700 spectrum scope is within reach for field use. You can quickly see band activity and find a clear frequency, all in the compact radio and not as an expensive add-on.

Large Touch Screen Color Display

The large 4.3-inch color TFT touch LCD screen, the same size as the Icom IC-7300 and IC-9700, provides intuitive control of functions, settings and various operational visual aids, such as the bandscope, waterfall and audioscope -functions.

Design and power supply

“Base Station” performance in the palm of your hand! You will quickly see how this compact radio is rugged, for outdoor use, in a small, lightweight package, weighing approximately 1.1 kg. The Icom IC-705 runs on the included Li-ion battery pack (BP-272 ) but can also be connected to a 12Volt (13.8VDC) power supply, which immediately recharges the battery.

In portable mode, the Icom IC-705 has the maximum 5W output power of the BP-272, lasting approximately 3 hours*. This is perfect for true 5 Watt QRP and the 0.5 W QRP operations. Once you set up with a 13.8V DC power source, you will have up to 10 Watts.

QRP is a method of operation that uses low power transmitters, no more than 5 watts for Morse or data modes, or 10 watts pep for voice. There are many reasons to 'go QRP'.

WLAN/ ^Bluetooth® Technologies

Use WLAN/Bluetooth® technologies for remote pairing and control* for true wireless operation. The VS-3 headset (optional) provides more comfortable operation via Bluetooth®

GPS functions

An internal GPS receiver and antenna enhance your operations with location tracking*, RX/TX locations via D-PRS, "Near Me" repeater search/scanning, QSO recording with metadata* and internal clock synchronization.

*A microSD memory card is required.

Micro SD card slot

The microSD card slot allows storage of user profiles, QSO recording, TX voice memory key, RTTY recording, GPS data, screen recording, firmware upgrades and programming.

In addition to the two COM ports, radio control plus audio, the IC-705 can be charged via the micro USB port.

D-Star features

Enjoy the latest DV mode features with the IC-705. Direct access to the D-STAR network with Terminal/Access Point modes. In addition, the IC-705 has the Photo Share function that was introduced with the IC-9700. Share photos without the need for a computer with other users with an IC-705 and IC-9700.

Programmable speaker microphone

Enjoy portable operations with the included HM-243, programmable speaker microphone. Perfect for use with the IC-705 safely secured in the optional LC-192 backpack. User-assignable buttons put functions like frequency and volume adjustments at your fingertips, without having to remove your backpack.

Optional available backpack - LC-1920

Designed to be the "Ultimate", a must-have accessory for the IC-705, the LC-192 is the perfect utility backpack. Features such as a safety strap, with a 1/4"-20 mounting eyelet to prevent the IC-705 from accidentally falling out of the custom radio compartment, to the user-adjustable internal panels for custom compartments for antennas, battery packs or other items needed for a SOTA Activation in the afternoon.
