Midland MA21-LK Double PTT headset – type-K

Want to communicate quickly via your radio without having to hold the device in your hand at all times? The Midland MA21-LK Double PTT is a compact headset with an earpiece and microphone, specially developed for use with the Midland CT990 EBR radio.

This headset combines a comfortable earhook earpiece, an integrated microphone, and a double Push-to-Talk function (Double PTT). This allows you to quickly choose which of the two preset channels you want to transmit on when used with a compatible CT990 EBR.

Thanks to the ergonomic earhook, adjustable fit, and 2-pin Kenwood Type-K connector, the MA21-LK is a practical solution for users who want to communicate quickly and clearly during work or events.

What is the Midland MA21-LK Double PTT headset?

The Midland MA21-LK is a wired radio headset with an earpiece, integrated microphone, and double PTT switch. The microphone and PTT controls are built directly into the cable. This allows you to wear the radio on your belt or equipment while still easily receiving and answering calls.

The earpiece features an earhook design with an adjustable ear hook, allowing it to be worn on either the left or right ear. The headset is particularly useful for users who regularly communicate via radio during their work and want to keep their hands free as much as possible.

Double PTT: operate two channels from a single headset

The most important feature of the Midland MA21-LK is the Double PTT function. A standard radio headset usually has one PTT button to activate the transmitter. In contrast, the MA21-LK features a double PTT switch.

When used with the Midland CT990 EBR (C1339.02), this allows you to choose directly from the headset which of the two preset channels you want to transmit on. This is useful when, for example, you are in contact with two different teams or workgroups. You do not have to manually switch channels on the radio every time.

Important: according to Midland, the Double PTT function is supported exclusively by the Midland CT990 EBR. This functionality is not guaranteed with other radios featuring a suitable Type-K connector.

Earpiece with microphone for clear communication

The Midland MA21-LK combines an earpiece and microphone in one compact accessory. The earpiece delivers communication directly to your ear. This means you do not need to use the radio's built-in speaker.

The in-line microphone is located in the cable, allowing you to speak without bringing the radio to your mouth. The PTT switch activates the transmitter when you want to speak.

This combination makes the headset practical for security, events, on-site coordination, and other tasks where direct communication between users is important.

Comfortable earhook for left or right use

Wearing comfort is important during prolonged use. That is why the Midland MA21-LK features an ergonomic earhook with an earbud.

The ear hook supports the earpiece and helps keep it in place during movement.

The height-adjustable support allows you to adapt the fit to your ear. The headset can also be worn on either the left or right side.

This makes the MA21-LK ideal for users who need to remain available via their radio for extended periods.

2-pin Kenwood Type-K connector

The Midland MA21-LK features a 2-pin angled connector with Kenwood Type-K wiring. This connector is used with several radio models, but the physical connector alone does not determine whether all functions are supported.

The Double PTT function, in particular, requires specific support from the connected radio. Midland lists the CT990 EBR (C1339.02) as a compatible model. Therefore, always check before ordering whether your radio has the correct connector and which PTT functions are supported.

Practical for security, events, and team coordination

The MA21-LK was developed for situations where quick communication is important. This includes, for example, security personnel staying in contact with different teams, event staff, or users who need to manage multiple communication groups on-site.

The double PTT controls allow you to quickly switch between two preset transmit channels when using the Midland CT990 EBR. The compact headset also means you do not have to hold the radio constantly. The MA21-LK thus combines wearing comfort, easy operation, and quick communication in a single accessory.
