Midland XT30 walkie-talkie set for emergency communication and outdoor use

Reliable communication can be important when mobile phone service is unavailable. The Midland XT30 walkie-talkie set consists of two compact, license-free PMR446 radios that allow you to communicate directly with each other without a mobile network or internet connection. This makes the set practical for emergencies and emergency communication, as well as for camping, hiking, walking, hunting, and other outdoor activities.

The XT30 combines easy operation with features such as VOX, Scan, Call, keypad lock, and 38 CTCSS tones. With a stated range of up to 6 km under optimal conditions, you have an accessible communication option for on the go and as part of your emergency preparedness kit.

Communicating when the mobile network fails

During a storm, flood, or other disaster or emergency, mobile networks can become overloaded or temporarily fail. A walkie-talkie works differently: the two radios communicate directly with each other via PMR446 radio frequencies. You are therefore not dependent on a mobile phone mast, internet connection, or subscription for communication with each other.

This makes the Midland XT30 an attractive option as a compact emergency communication set for home, the car, a motorhome, or caravan. However, keep in mind that a walkie-talkie is not a replacement for official emergency communication or emergency services. It is primarily a practical way to stay in contact within a group when regular communication methods are unavailable.

For camping, hiking, walking, and hunting

The XT30 is also useful outside of emergency situations. While camping, hiking, or walking, you can stay in contact when a group temporarily separates. Think of communication between two vehicles on the road, between a tent and motorhome at a campsite, or between group members during an outdoor activity.

When hunting or engaging in other activities where you work at some distance from each other, a compact two-way radio also offers additional communication options without having to reach for a phone every time.

The combination of the compact size, the weight of just 75 grams, and the included belt clip makes the XT30 easy to carry.

Range of up to 6 km under optimal conditions

Midland states that the XT30 has a communication range of up to 6 kilometers under optimal conditions. In practice, the actual range of a PMR446 walkie-talkie is influenced by factors such as buildings, terrain, vegetation, and other obstacles.

In an open environment, the range can therefore be significantly greater than in a densely built-up area or forested terrain. For emergency situations, it is wise to take this into account and test beforehand what range is achievable at the locations where you intend to use the radios.

Easy to charge and ready to use

Each XT30 runs on three AAA batteries. The set includes six rechargeable 300 mAh AAA batteries and a 2-way USB/micro-USB cable. This allows you to charge both radios via a suitable USB power source. With an optional adapter, charging via 220V or 12/24V is possible.

The Auto Power Save function helps limit power consumption. Midland states a maximum battery life of approximately 5 hours, depending on use.

The main benefits:

Compatible accessories can also be connected via the 2-pin Midland accessory socket, such as an earpiece, speaker microphone, or other hands-free communication accessories.

A compact backup for on the go and emergencies

Whether you are looking for a walkie-talkie for camping, want to stay in contact with your group while hiking, or want to have a simple form of emergency communication on hand during storms, floods, and other emergencies: the Midland XT30 offers the most important communication features in a compact and accessible set.

Because PMR446 works directly between the radios, the XT30 is also a useful addition to an emergency kit or other preparation for situations in which mobile communication is temporarily unavailable.

Add the Midland XT30 to your outdoor or emergency kit and ensure that you can stay in communication with each other even without a mobile network.
