The Shakespeare 5247-A-D is a heavy-duty VHF marine antenna of approximately 90 cm with a 3 dB gain. Thanks to the practical Lift-N-Lay system, you can easily raise the antenna for use and lay it down again when you need extra clear space.
The antenna features an extra sturdy stainless steel whip that provides minimal movement at higher speeds. This allows the Shakespeare 5247-AD to combine a compact size with a robust construction for use on the water.
What is the Shakespeare Lift-N-Lay system?
The Lift-N-Lay function allows you to quickly raise or lower the antenna. This is useful, for example, when fishing, when transporting the boat on a trailer, wanting to install a boat cover, or storing the boat.
Even when you need to pass under a low bridge or other structure, it can be practical to temporarily lay down the antenna. You do not need to dismantle the entire antenna installation for this.
Due to this construction, the Shakespeare 5247-AD is especially interesting for situations where a fixed, upright antenna might regularly be in the way.
Heavy-duty stainless steel antenna whip
The 5247-AD is a 3 dB base-load antenna with an extra heavy-duty stainless steel whip of approximately 91 cm. The sturdy design of the whip is designed to limit movement at higher boat speeds.
The base contains a sealed copper wire coil. This, combined with the stainless steel whip, ensures a durable construction developed for marine applications.
The Shakespeare antenna operates within the VHF frequency range of 156 to 162 MHz and has an impedance of 50 Ohm. The maximum continuous power is 50 watts.
Easy side or mast mounting
An angled L-bracket is included for mounting. This allows the Shakespeare 5247-AD to be mounted against a vertical surface. The antenna is equipped with an SO-239 / UHF-female connector.
