What is the Syncro SV-5 suitable for?

1. Maximum Transmit Power: Feature of Syncro SV-5 = up to 1 Watt (1000 mW). Regulations: License-free UHF two-way radios (PMR446) may transmit a maximum of 0.5 Watt (500 mW) ERP. At 1 Watt, this device provides double the permitted license-free power.

2. Frequency Range and Channel Spacing: Feature of Syncro SV-5: Wide range from 400 to 480 MHz. Regulations: License-free use is only permitted on the designated PMR446 band (446.000 MHz to 446.200 MHz) with a fixed channel spacing (12.5 kHz steps). The 400–480 MHz range intersects with frequencies used by emergency services, license holders, and corporate communications. The device can transmit on frequencies reserved for license holders.

3. Programmability and antenna: Feature of Syncro SV-5: Freely programmable / frequencies can be set manually (often equipped with a detachable antenna with an SMA connector). Regulations: License-free two-way radios must not be freely programmable by the user outside the PMR446 channels and must be equipped with a fixed (non-detachable) antenna according to standards to prevent the attachment of a higher-gain antenna. Because the frequencies are freely adjustable, the equipment does not meet the type approval for license-free exemption.
