How do I set up my Plegium pepper spray with my phone?
Setting up your Plegium Smart Pepper Spray or Plegium Smart Mini Pepper Spray with your phone is quick and easy. Here's how:
- Download the Plegium app from the App Store or Google Play. Create an account and follow the in-app installation instructions. Make sure you grant the app permission to use Bluetooth and location services.
- Connect your spray to the app by tapping "Add Device" on the home screen and then entering the four-digit code located under the security slider. You can also add your device via Settings > Nearby Plegium Devices and select your device there.
- Add emergency contacts by clicking "Add Contact" in the app and selecting phone numbers from your contacts list. With the free version, you can add up to two emergency contacts; with a Plus or Premium subscription, you can add up to seven.
- Your spray is now connected to your phone and ready to use.

How do I test my Plegium product?
To test all functions ( except the spray itself ), use a sharp object to slide the test switch on the side of the product down for 10 seconds and then back up. This activates all functions and also sends alerts to your emergency contacts (so let them know beforehand that you're testing).
Note: As a free user, you can run up to 10 free test alarms per month . With a Plus or Premium subscription, you get 20 test alarms , and as a Pro user, you receive 50 test alarms.
When conducting tests, it is important to inform your emergency contacts in advance that they will receive emergency notifications for testing purposes, but that these are not true emergencies.
Important to remember
If you have the Plegium app on your smartphone, make sure all notifications are enabled—so they're not blocked in any way—so your smartphone can send location texts and phone calls when you use the spray or alarm button. It's sufficient for the app to run in the background and your phone to be locked. However, if you completely close ("kill") the app, it won't be able to receive a signal from your spray when it's activated.
Contacts do not need to install the App
Selected contacts do not need to install the Plegium app on their smartphones. Only the owner/wearer/user of the alarm button or defense spray does.
Can I take my Plegium pepper spray with me when traveling abroad?
The laws regarding self-defense sprays vary from country to country, so we advise against taking them with you when traveling.
In addition, Plegium sprays are considered aerosols and are not permitted in the cabin of an aircraft. It's important to check your destination's regulations regarding pepper spray or other self-defense equipment before traveling.
How far does the beam of a Plegium self-defense spray reach?
The Plegium spray uses a so-called "stream" spray pattern, which sprays the liquid in a focused jet. This provides a range of approximately 4.5 meters (15 feet).
