Programming the Himunication HM365S: what information do you need?

Are you considering purchasing the Himunication HM365S marine radio, or have you just installed it? Then you are probably wondering which settings you need to program before you can fully use the marine radio. Fortunately, commissioning is simple, and you usually only need to enter a few important details once. You can read more about this in the English manual, which you can find under the 'manual' tab. 

1. ATIS number for inland waterways: Do you sail on Dutch, Belgian, or German inland waterways? Then a valid ATIS number is mandatory. Without ATIS identification, you are not allowed to transmit on these waterways. The ATIS number is usually entered once and then locked to prevent unwanted changes.
2. MMSI number for DSC distress calls: The Himunication HM365S features DSC (Digital Selective Calling), which allows you to quickly send a distress call. For this, a valid MMSI number must be programmed. This unique 9-digit identification number is linked to your ship and is also usually entered only once.

Built-in GPS ready for immediate use

A significant advantage of the HM365S over the HM365 is its built-in GPS receiver. After installation, check if the GPS is receiving a position. This position data is automatically used for DSC distress calls and the integrated AIS functions, allowing emergency services to immediately see your location when every second counts.

Adjust AIS settings as desired

The Himunication HM365S is equipped with an AIS receiver that allows you to monitor maritime traffic in the vicinity. Advanced users can adjust settings as desired, such as:

What information do you receive with a marine radio license?

With a Dutch marine radio license, you usually receive the following information from the Radiocommunications Agency (RDI):

This information is necessary to correctly register your marine radio and use it according to regulations.

Important to know

Many modern Himunication marine radios, including the HM365S, only allow the MMSI and ATIS numbers to be programmed once. Therefore, always carefully check that all data is correct before confirming the entry. Subsequent changes often require special programming software or intervention by an authorized service center.
