At the Tokyo Ham Fair, Icom introduced the new IC-7300MK2 transceiver – a compact successor to the globally successful IC-7300, which has sold over 100,000 units. With improved performance, reduced heat generation, and innovative new features, this model sets the standard for modern HF communications.
Improved performance for serious operators
The IC-7300MK2 offers improved RMDR and lower phase noise , reducing interference with adjacent signals. Thanks to carefully selected components and an optimized DC design, the transceiver is more stable and energy efficient than its predecessor. The current consumption in RX standby has been reduced from 0.9 A to 0.7 A (typical), a saving of approximately 23%. This results in less heat generation and a longer lifespan.
New and innovative features
- HDMI™ port: Connect an external display for frequency, spectrum scope, waterfall, and menus; audio can be output through the display.
- RX Antenna IN/OUT: Optimizes reception, prevents interference/QRN and supports external bandpass filters and preamplifiers.
- Standby function: Up to 6 hours in RX standby at 24°C.
- Built-in CW Decoder: Decodes Morse code directly, without a PC or external hardware, with automatic signal and speed tracking.
- USB Type-C™ port: Dual virtual COM ports + audio in/out; allows simultaneous use of apps (e.g. FT8 and logging software) via a single cable.
- RS-BA1 Remote Control v2: Control the transceiver completely over the internet, including switching on/off, without the need for a server PC.
